The Groom's Story

Ginger is someone who is very difficult to surprise, so naturally, I made it my mission to pull off the task at hand. She had suspected I had been ring shopping and thought I had purchased a diamond in Pennsylvania, but thought I would have to return to the state to retreive the merchandise. Little did she know, I had the ring shipped to a local jeweler in CT.

We were planning a trip to PA and I did my best to lead her to believe that is when I would pick up her ring. I had it in my possession a week prior and it was killing me to keep it a secret, but somehow I managed.

Ginger works late Tuesday nights and July 2, the Tuesday before our trip to PA, I decided to pop the big question.

I left work a little early to begin the "set up." When she got home from work the entire condo was lit by candlelight, including a Japanese dinner (our favorite). During dinner I explained how I was saddened to learn we could not go to PA for two reasons...one being my parents were going on vacation that week. I then asked if she would like to talk more on the back patio over wine.

She opened the door to a candlelit display in which I formed a heart out of rose pedals and spelled out "Marry Me" in daisy buds. I then got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She was shocked, but when her voice retured, she said "of course."
